If you have received a Council Tax bill confirming that your Council Tax account is in credit, please complete the details on the form and your refund will be processed as soon as possible.
Please note: any credit on the account will be refunded back to the method of payment if paid via Direct Debit or via Debit/Credit Card. If paid via any other method any credit will be split equally between all liable parties or to a bank account in the name of all liable parties unless proof is provided to the contrary.
If all liable parties move to another address in the council area, we may transfer any credit to your new account. If all liable parties move to different addresses in the council area we may transfer any credit equally to your new accounts. If one party vacates a property and the other liable party remains in the property, we may transfer any credit to the new sole account for the property. However, you can ask for it to be transferred back and refunded so long as there is no amount due in the past on another account in your name.
Where a Council Tax account is in the name of the Executors of a deceased person, please ensure that you provide a copy of the Will as any credit must be refunded to either a named Executor, Solicitors or to a bank account in the name of ‘Executors of’ the deceased person.
Please have your Council Tax reference number to hand before you start this application.
